Eyetracking Study
This is an study that I did in which qualitative analysis on the participants' visual responses to the game interface was performed. The main goal was to analyze how users see the UI and how often they interact visually with the elements of the interface of the game in specific moments.
For this study, the main demographic was players who had a substantial amount of experience with World of Tanks (over 10.000 battles).
Role: Sole UX Researcher
Users: Expert World of Tanks players (10,000+ games)
Goal: Evaluate User Interface from a natural visual system and see how players interact with the UI under different scenarios
Project Overview

My Contribution
For this particular study, I performed all of the data collection, as well as the data analysis.
Goal
See which of the different UI elements are used by highly skilled players, and what elements from the main combat HUD aren't used by them.
Process
For the test, each participant played on their own personal account as they normally would at home. This was a completely qualitative study, so there wasn't any form of quantitative data (so we didn't have them take any survey). For data collection and analysis, I used the Gazepoint Eyetracker.
Overall, the analysis took place on the following aspects of the game:
Kills
Damage
Death notifications
Deaths
Spotting
Getting spotted
Deaths
Time based observation
And extra notes on the participant's behavior
The analysis consisted on participant's visual system behavior before, during, and after the aspects of the game previously mentioned.
Results
Overall, the results of the study were:
Spawn kills - The game feels as if it spawns players into positions in which they have no chance to participate before they are killed.
Maps/Open terrain - The map's scale is enjoyable, but players often feel these maps have little within them to deserve such scale.
Vehicle controls for Planes - The plane's controls are unresponsive and lead to more self-caused deaths than they should.
Graphics are beautiful - The backgrounds and explorable environments are incredibly well done and beautiful.
Audio is great - The in-game sound design and music were both well done.
